MARCH 24, 2014 BOARD OF SELECTMAN MEETING
I recommend $235,552 from the current proposed Budget be reallocated towards reducing or shall I say stabilizing fiscal year 2015 Real Estate Taxes for the taxpayers of the Town of Lynnfield. This represents a nominal ½ of 1% of the current proposed Fiscal Year 2015 TOTAL Appropriations Requests. The manner in which this recommendation is to be funded is by reducing all budgetary categories by ¼ of 1% totaling $117,776 and ¼ of 1% of the current proposed Fiscal Year 2015 Total Budget from New Growth totaling $117,776. This is not a substantial dollar amount as it relates to the ENTIRE current proposed Budget. However, this symbolic dollar amount will show the Town of Lynnfield Taxpayers that the Board of Selectmen are serious about controlling costs and controlling escalating real estate taxes. Our past real estate tax increases have been a vexing issue for seniors as well as young families raising children alike. This symbolic $235,552 is a step in the right direction and I request the Board of Selectman take this step.
