Our New Town Clerk Already Making An Impact

In recent years it was believed that 100 signatures were required to place a citizen initiative petition on the Fall Town Meeting Warrant as compared to only 10 signatures for the Spring Town Meeting.
Taking the initiative, our new Town Clerk, Trudy Reid, contacted the Secretary of State’s Election Commission and they determined: since our Charter states two regularly scheduled Town Meetings, only 10 signatures are required to place a citizen petition on the Fall Town Meeting Warrant.
The lowering of this signature requirement bar is great news to those who were deterred in the past from submitting Fall citizen petitions because of the 100 signature requirement. Please take advantage of it and participate in your government.
