Katy Shea Announces Run For 2015 Selectman Election

My name is Katy Shea and I am pleased to announce that I intend to run for the office of Selectman in the April, 2015 race. I grew up in Lynnfield, graduated from Lynnfield High School, continued my education at Bentley University and received my MBA from Northeastern. I have worked for Fortune 500 and start-up companies, been an Adjunct Professor at both Northeastern University and North Shore Community College and am currently a Director/Manager of the T.H. Glennon Company, our family owned business in Salisbury, MA.

I am a past member of the Lynnfield Education Trust, a current member of the Lynnfield Business Coalition and founding/active member of the blog Lynnfield Initiative for Transparency (L.I.F.T) [lynnfieldtransparency.com] which seeks to improve openness in our Town Government through Town-wide communication. I attend, and actively participate in, Selectmen, Finance and other community meetings.

I have chosen to run for selectman most importantly for my love of the town I grew up in and to give back to the community that means so much to me. I believe in, first and foremost, fiscal responsibility, accountability and justification. I also want to continue advocating for more transparency on town issues that we all care about. There are many other opportunities and issues to address such as our current and future tax rates, traffic issues surrounding Market Street, the future of the Center Farm, and other development plans that will be important to Lynnfield. As an elected official, I will work to provide you easy to understand factual information, assisting you to make informed decisions.

I want to thank all of the people who have encouraged me to run for Selectman and a special thanks to my husband and children for their support. I am looking forward to the upcoming election and advocating for Lynnfield residents.
